Before the abduction (Roy/Laurel, complete log)
They had yet to track down the vigilante wannabe. His m.o. was all over the place, but he seemed to feel the need to make sure that his presence was known in the city. She’d asked Nyssa about it, but Nyssa swore that he wasn’t one of her father’s men. Laurel still hadn’t decided if she would trust that, but she had a feeling that it was true. Nyssa might not be entirely truthful with her about everything, but she didn’t believe that the other woman had good reason to lie about this. And she trusted Nyssa, in a strange sort of way.
So the team kept taking to the streets in search of the man who was causing so much trouble for Starling City’s underworld. Laurel thought that it showed growth that Oliver recognized that killing criminals and/or beating them to a bloody pulp wasn’t the way to go about things. Though she also wondered if he just had a need to micromanage any other vigilantes in the city. It was likely a little bit of both, but she was still glad that her ex had chosen a better path to justice these days.
She was currently checking out a street near the Glades that was rumored to be a haunting grounds for a gang that was terrorizing women who dared to walk through on their own. Roy was backing her up from the rooftops. Laurel preferred those times when she had Roy watching her back. The two worked well together-and that had been true before they started seeing each other.
No matter how aware she’d been as she patrolled, she still didn’t see the hulking blond guy coming. He managed to sneak up behind her and clock her in the back of the head. Laurel reeled forward, mind racing as she tried to get her body to cooperate and turn to fight. Instead, her knees hit the ground with a thud.
----
Roy didn’t like not knowing who they were after. There had been some rumors that the guy was blond and big, but that didn’t help much. He just moved along the rooftops, moving from one building to the next to follow the woman who was becoming more and more important to him. He didn’t know how Oliver could have ever cheated on her. Laurel deserved so much more.
“Felicity, see anything?” He talked softly into the comms, but he wouldn’t let Laurel out of his sight. He needed to look after her; he was her backup after all. They kept moving, and would have continued to do so when Laurel was attacked.
“Felicity! Find us! We need back up!” He already had an arrow notched, not to kill the attacker, even if he wanted to. One to the knee was followed by one to the shoulder. The first one must have warned the big blond thug because the second one just glanced a shoulder as the thug dodged the arrow.
----
Laurel was down but not out. She took advantage of the momentary distraction provided by Roy’s arrows and got back up, attempting to clock the man straight in the face. Somehow, he caught her punch. This guy was good. She tried again, managing to land a kick to his knee. Not enough to stop him, but he at least stumbled backward, giving her the chance to throw another punch. This one landed, but hitting the blond guy was like hitting a tank. He recovered from the punch and lifted her off the ground, tossing her out of his way.
Then he looked up to the rooftop for any sign of the archer.
“Too scared to come down and face me yourself?” he shouted, hoping that he would be hard. And especially hoping that it was, in fact, the Arrow up there. He’d been wanting to meet the man himself for awhile now.
----
Roy didn’t say anything to the blond thug. His attention was on his partner, and he notched another arrow, aiming at the man’s shoulder again. He had wanted to go with the man’s head, but that wasn’t how they worked in TeamArrow. They didn’t kill people, even if they were killers themselves.
He was quickly moving down the building side to finally land on the ground. He didn’t move quickly to fight the big man. While he was used to it, Roy really didn’t want to test just how could he was at fighting others who were much bigger than he was. He knew he was one of the smallest male members of the team.
“Canary?” He whispered into the comms, watching the big man carefully.
----
Laurel heard the voice in her ear as she struggled to get back up. The man had done a number on her. Who the hell was this guy?
“I’m okay,” she mumbled, even if that wasn’t technically the truth at the moment. She would be okay though. That was what mattered. She wasn’t going to let a two-bit no-name thug put her down. Not like this. She struggled to get to her feet again.
She watched the blond carefully, glad that Roy was waiting for back-up before he dropped into the fight. It was better this way. But she really didn’t get who this guy was and what he wanted. He hadn’t gone for the kill with her. Why?
----
“They’re on their way. They’ll there soon.” Felicity mumbled in their ears. Roy didn’t like that they were left there to watch the thug, and that wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to do. He’d already knocked Laurel away, which wasn’t an easy thing. She was a good fighter, and she wasn’t just some bit of fluff to knock around so easily.
“We don’t have time to wait.” He moved forward and let loose a dummy arrow that wasn’t meant to cut skin, just hurt like hell and hopefully knock the bastard out. They needed the guy out for the count, so that they could give him to the police, even if the police weren’t exactly TeamArrow friendly.
“Who are you? Why are you here?” His voice changed a little as he walked closer.
----
The arrow didn’t knock him out, but it did knock him back. Savant tilted his head as he looked at the guy who was approaching.
“The Red Arrow? You’re not who I was looking for.” He momentarily frowned, looking confused. “At least, I don’t think so. I haven’t already met the Green Arrow, have I?” So what if that wasn’t the ‘official’ name. If there were two archers in Starling City, it only made sense to refer to them by what color they were wearing.
“You two are just cannon fodder. I would think that I’d be important enough to get the big guy’s attention. Haven’t I done enough for this city by now?”
Laurel got to her feet when Roy dropped down onto the scene. She was going to back him up if it killed her. Hopefully.
----
“We work together, genius.” Roy wasn’t always the one to make with the talking; he was better at standing in the background and doing what he needed to to support people he fought along side. He wanted to help and end whatever the bad guy was up to.
He gave Laurel a quick glance, knowing later he’d have to check her over to make sure she was okay. He’d do whatever he had to to make sure she was okay, even if it meant making her go into the hospital. He wanted to touch her to make sure she was okay, but he went for another arrow.
“So, you get what you get.”
----
Savant tilted his head, observing the pair. They did make a strange pair, didn’t they? Or perhaps the red arrow and canary had always been a pair. He couldn’t quite remember. He did sometimes get his dates and order of events mixed up. But he was sure that he was here right this second. Sure that he was waiting for the Green Arrow. The guy who’d started it all. Well. Maybe not all of it. There had been a Wildcat running around the city at some point. Or had that been a dream?
“I want to help your boss. I can help this city,” he said, almost puffing his chest up. “You’ve seen what I’m capable of. I could help your team.”
“We don’t kill people,” Laurel said. “You really want to be a hero, you don’t do it by dropping bad guys like flies.”
“But that’s how he did it. I”m sure it is,” Savant said.
----
“We don’t kill people.” Roy growled through the voice changer. He wouldn’t do it. He couldn’t, not again. Not on purpose. Not unless he really had to, and he’d do everything to avoid doing just that. He shifted a little where he stood and looked around.
“How much longer?” He whispered into the comms.
“They should be there soon.” Felicity thought that Diggle and Oliver should have been there by now.
“You’re going to prison.” Roy had decided that this blond bozo was going to pay for his crimes.
----
“No, you don’t. Pity,” Savant said. “But the guy in green does. I saw him.”
Whether he had actually seen it or just internalized news reports was a question, but he was sure that the guy in green killed people. Sure that he’d be proud of the good work that Savant was doing. If he could just get a face to face, he was sure that the Arrow would want him as a partner. But these two seemed to be in his way.
He moved forward quickly, aiming to knock out the guy in red and the girl in black leather. They were no fun. They didn’t get him like his idol likely would. So it was best to make a hasty retreat and try again another night.
For a big guy, this guy was fast. Laurel was already injured, and this last hit was enough to make her lose her grip on consciousness. She hit the ground, eyes closing as she did so.
----
Roy had moved to protect Laurel, but it hadn’t gone well. Laurel went down only moments before the big guy turned to him.
Thankfully he got a few hits in with fist and bow, but none of it seemed to do much against the mountain of a man. He tried a few more things, but soon he felt something hit the side of his head. Hit to the head and then blackness.
