It was a mark of how long she'd been in this situation that Mary didn't really blink an eye when she woke up somewhere differently than the small house that she'd gone to sleep in. She found that she didn't really care about the settings anymore. Not unless they'd suddenly decided to put her on a planet with Johnny and Ellen, without losing any of the family that she currently had. Her nightmares were getting worse these days. She saw their faces a lot, always out of reach, sometimes bloodied or dead. She also relived her experiences with the serial killer quite a lot. Sometimes she woke up and instinctively looked for Johnny in the bed, expecting him to just be there.
He wasn't there this time. He hadn't been there. And she no longer believed that he would be.
This wouldn't be her first time waking up with a randomly assigned roommate, so when she heard footsteps outside, she threw on some pants and a shirt, found one of her guns, and stepped out into the common area. She didn't expect to need it, but there was no telling what situation the aliens might have put her in this time.
She wasn't expecting a half-naked guy, though considering that the last time they'd done this roommate thing, she'd woken up in bed with a half-naked guy, maybe she should have.
She lowered her gun, though still kept it in her hand. She was mindful to keep her eyes above his neck as she gave a small smile and a sheepish wave with her free hand.
"I guess I'm your new roommate for the time being. Hi, I'm Mary."
She didn't recognize this guy, though it seemed like the aliens picked people up fairly frequently. Almost as frequently as they left them or sent them home or did whatever they did.
