It was difficult to become tired of the way Nanshe looked at him. It had been centuries and Morpheus was not yet there, nor did he think that was every truly likely to happen. He nodded when she wished to walk, and walked with her on his arm.
The room was beautifully decorated and appointed for a ball, and the Queen and even her guards were all quite regal. He'd spotted Annabelle among them, and though she wasn't as dolled up as everyone else, she still looked radiant. He could see some familiar faces other places, like Jo's.
"I have to wonder what the catch is," he said. "It's a beautiful party. But I can't help wondering."
