Eleni caught sight of the p.i. and couldn't help but smile. There was a little rush of nerves at the thought of him meeting an actual princess, but it wasn't like she actually had a claim on the guy. In fact, they'd been rocketing around all over the galaxy for how long now? You'd think that if he was interested, that he would have asked her out by now. Not that there were many opportunities for dating these days. And she could understand if he didn't want to get too close when there was always the hope that they'd find a way home.
She did her best to caught his eye and threw a wink his way before she wandered to the other side of the dance floor. He could always come see her when he was done meeting the princess. In the meantime, she enjoyed people watching. Couples swirled around the floor and laughter filled the room. The joy over the holiday was practically bouncing off the walls. There was a little edge of somberness in places when she looked more closely-as though there were people who should be here but weren't, though she supposed that that feeling came with any holiday anywhere. She did her best not to think about Christmas back at Stark Tower. About whether or not her parents had noticed she was missing or whether the aliens would simply return them to the moment they'd been yanked from when they were finished. She hoped for the latter, for her mom and dad's sake. But when did their family ever have things work out in that way?
Her gaze traveled back to the receiving line, where Max had finally gotten his face to face with the princess. And even with the best of intentions to give that moment privacy, she couldn't help but watch.
