It wasn't easy and it wasn't her favorite thing ever, but it was the release she needed. She was just glad that Johnny had been the one to get her to this point, even if she was a little embarrassed at just how much she'd dropped her guard around him. How much she'd let him see her at her most vulnerable.
When the tears were gone, she sniffled one last time and swiped at her cheeks and looked up to give him a brief kiss.
"Thank you," she said, her voice still a little hoarse so the words were barely above a whisper.
She attempted-and even managed-a smile.
"Think maybe we can move on to happier things for now?"
Maybe she'd need to talk more at some point. But not tonight. Right now, she really wanted to think about anything but.
