Mary was still having nightmares. Sharing a bed with Johnny made it awfully hard to hide that, but she didn't want to let him out of her sight. There was always the possibility that she'd wake up in another place and have to go looking for him all over again and she wanted to spend as much time together as she could while they were here. She was just glad that Johnny felt the same.
She'd just kept waking up in a cold sweat at night and he'd let her avoid the subject up until now. She was glad for that, though she had a feeling that it wouldn't last forever. Daytime was much easier. She was able to throw herself into whatever distractions they found for the day-mostly exploring the spaceship and ordering ridiculous quantities of whatever junk food sounded good at the moment. Avoiding her parents just a little bit, because that was an awkward meetup that Mary would prefer to delay for a little longer.
She'd gone off to spend a little time with her mom-one on one, as was easier. She returned later at night to an empty room. It didn't worry her too much. As he'd predicted, she just swung by his room-a room that was just as familiar as her own at this point. Mary tapped on the door, waiting to be let in. If he wasn't in, it wasn't like it'd be that hard to find him. There weren't many places to go on the spaceship after all.
