Too much (Open)
Mikey had already explored both floors that he could get to extensively. He'd also already discovered the food that he could get by just walking up to a window and asking for it. They never stopped giving it over, either. Every time he asked for something, he got it. Then he took it back to his room and ate it.

Restraint was not one of the things Mikey was good at.

So he eventually found himself laying on the floor of his room - what a glorious room, all the things that the birds had given him, the stuff from Simon, the stuff from Niks, all of it there! - with food remnants around him, and a bellyache.

It was not comfortable any way he turned, no matter which position he tried to lay in. His stomach complained loudly. He complained loudly. Yowling and groaning.

"Help." Mikey said it softly, fearing that if he tried to yell, he might throw up. "I'm dying. Dying. Dyyyying."

The catboy whimpered, studying the bones of what amounted to several whole chickens and two pie platters that were nearby. How had he eaten all of that?

From a crying girl and someone who sounded like they were...dying? Sam wasn't sure what to think about this new place. He stared at the door, not sure if he was hearing a cat and a person or someone's catlike sounds.

"Hello?" The word actually seemed to work on so many levels. The shifter leaned against the wall, waiting for a moment before doing more. It could be a trap for all he knew, but the person on the other side of the door could be in some problem. A huge problem.

Mikey's head whipped around looking for the sound. When he couldn't see who was talking to him, he turned his body in a circle until he could. All without moving off of the floor of his room. There was a bit of chicken on the ground which took up residence in his hair as he moved.

"Help." He said pathetically, reaching a hand out.

The cat was so full that he wasn't paying any attention to the way the stranger smelled. If he had, he might not have liked it so much.

"It's too much. I'm dying."

Sam didn't move quiet yet. There was good bit of cat smell in this room, cat and food - too much food. He looked at the guy on the floor, still not moving. His nostrils flared ever so slightly; this kid wasn't human. Normally the tail would give it away, but he hadn't caught the tail quite yet.

"What the fuck?" The shifter toed some of the containers away from the door and moved slowly toward the pathetic thing on the floor.

"Did you eat all this shit?" He looked around before looking at what should have been a fairly healthy if not a little on the thin side guy on the floor. He crouched down just out of reach of the guy; not bothered by the cat smell, just surprised at how strong it was. A weresomething or other probably - just what he needed.

"I ate it." Mikey confirmed. "All of it."

He'd never overindulged in all his life. Of course, he'd never had such free access to pre-made food before, either. He'd always had to rely on or badger people into making what he wanted, or had to deal with the meal times that were set up for him.

This was a new thing, and he wasn't sure it was a good thing.

"It hurts." Mikey whimpered. "It hurts in my tummy. Why would it do that? WHY?"

His hands were now both curled around his midsection. He felt like he was going to explode. He didn't know who this guy was, but he hoped that there was something that could be done. Mikey didn't like to feel miserable.

"You have a few choices." Sam didn't touch the were; he had half a mind to leave the guy in the misery of his own making, but he'd gotten used to helping people out. Like an idiot.

"You can lie there and moan and groan. You could try to get up off the floor and find somewhere else to moan and groan. Or we induce vomiting. It won't be fun, and I'm not doing it for you." He shook his, stating how things were right then and there.

"So, what's it going to be?"

"Vomit." Mikey made the decision quickly. He said the word with authority, though the authority came in a whisper. He wanted the food out. As fast as possible.

"How?" The only time he'd thrown up had been as a cat. Due to hairballs most of the time. Once or twice because he'd eaten something bad for him and it had upset his stomach. This didn't feel like either of those things, and he didn't know how to make this boy body heave.

If he turned into a cat, he was just sure he would explode from all the food he'd eaten, and it scared him. He didn't want to die. There were so many things he wanted to do. So many places to explore.

Vomit. Of course, it had to be vomit. Honestly, that was probably the only way the kid would make it, but then...

"You could shift and eat a shit load of grass." He gave a soft laugh; it wasn't nice, but then weres were damn difficult sometimes. The alphas were even more difficult. He looked around the room before standing and walking away to find something that would hold the vomit. He wasn't cleaning up after the cat.

"Okay." He dropped the trashcan down, surprised at how empty the thing was considering how much trash was in the room. "Stick your finger down your throat and have a go at it."

That comment made Mikey pause.

This guy knew what he was? He wasn't used to hearing the word shift, but that eating a lot of - a shit load of - grass meant something. Usually he would have gone that route if his stomach was upset. It was a good way to clear the system. But... how would the stranger know that? Know what Mikey was?

It was interesting that he might not have to prove himself, sure, but it also made him unexpectedly wary.

"I might explode..." he said to that suggestion. He didn't think his smaller body could handle the amount of food he'd ingested.

Mikey looked at the trash can. "What?" stick his finger down his throat? How was that supposed to help? He understood why the can was there, just on a base level. If he did throw up, it would be a lot easier to clean out the container than it would be to get it off the floor. They could just put the trash can outside and let somebody else take care of it.

The cat shrugged and opened his mouth. He stuck his finger inside, all the way up to the last knuckle. Sure that it wouldn't do anything.

"An I uposed oo oo amying else wi is? I on uneran wa is is uppoth o oo..." but then he was throwing up.

"Yeah, because you're so small." Sam rolled his eyes. He was used to weres who were large, not so tiny that they might explode. The shifter shook his head as he waited for the inevitable. Yeah, that wasn't fun, certainly not to someone with a nose as sensitive as Sam's.

He actually did reach over and patted the cat's back, giving a small rub as well. He didn't laugh, but he did have a slight smile on his lips. He might have even sounded as if he were smiling.

"That's it. Get it all out. Gonna do this again?" Sometimes people learned after the pain, but he wasn't sure this one would. He didn't know the guy at all, but there was a feeling. He just had to hope. He gave the cat a few more pats on his back.

"That's it."

Throwing up felt good. The release of the pressure on his stomach also cleared out his brain and the cloudiness that he had been feeling. He didn't say anything until he was sure he was done vomiting. Mostly because he couldn't even get a word in edgewise.

"I don't know." Mikey said, being quite honest. Impulse control was not something that he knew. He couldn't promise that he would remember how horrible this all felt later, when again faced with all the free pre-cooked chicken he could ever want.

"I am small." He said, defiantly. "And you smell weird."

He had finally started to pay attention to his surroundings. To the guy who was helping him. There was a slight scent of what Evan smelled like, but it was different. Mikey hadn't smelled anything like it before. But it didn't scare him like the alien scent had. Plus, this guy had shown himself to be helpful and nice. Even the mostly irrational cat couldn't bring himself to react badly.

"Runt of the litter were?" Sam made a face, not at all believing that. The kid was pretty tall, somewhat taller than the shifter if he reckoned correctly. He crouched by the guy, lips pulled a little as if he were trying not to smell the vomit.

"I smell like I smell. You smell like a werefeline of some kind." He couldn't name it, more from the unfamiliarity than being that bad at analyzing scents. "You might wanna put this in your head. This mess, which have fun cleaning up, is not good on repeat. You'll patch up quick enough, but this isn't good." He motioned around to room then looked pointedly at the cat.

"This shit will get you killed." Okay, so he could be a little nice even to the were types. He'd gotten along better with the feline sort than the lupine sort, but not by much.

"Were?" Mikey had heard that term before. From Evan and Niks. He shook his head. "I'm not a werecat."

He actually stood up then, picking up the pukey wastebasket, and doing a very un-Mikey-like thing, took it into the bathroom where he dumped it into the toilet. He wasn't going to try to clean the trash can itself, though. That could just be thrown out with the rest. As he did this, the thought of what he was was confirmed.

"I'm a cat who can be a boy." He pointed at his tail. Mikey looked at the mess that he'd left, and now that he felt better, he could see how gross it looked. He thought he might be able to remember this sight and the way it felt. But he still couldn't promise.

Mikey had only ever met the boy at school who could become a dog. It made him very interested in this guy. He eyed him carefully. Still unable to be untrusting just because of a smell.

"What are you?"

"You're a werecat. Doesn't matter which way you start; you're a were." Sam wasn't sure if that were true, but it seemed true enough for all he thought. He shrugged.

"Faulty. Psychological issues. Beats the hell out of me. Could be anything." The bar owner shrugged again, looking at the tail. "Not my field. I'm just own a bar."

He stood and took a lean against whatever was closest. His hands were in his pockets as he looked over the mess, even as the guy started picking up things.

"I'm a shifter. I can be whatever animal I want." It was what it was, and the guy could smell it on him.

"No." Mikey shook his head. But the word wasn't defiant. What was that other word he'd heard? The one that the guys in white coats had said to Simon? Oh, right. "Mutant. They called me a mutant."

"Shifter." Mikey repeated the word, trying it on for size. The last bit made him excited. Any animal? That was kind of fun.

"Is that why you smell like a dog but not all the way dog? Evan just smells like a dog, and it's gross. But you smell like ... other things, too. Do you like being a dog more? Will you be a cat? We could be cats together. I want to be a cat with you. You were nice and helped me vomit. Will you be a cat? Let's be cats."

He hadn't felt this excited in a long time. He was practically bouncing all over the room now. The idea that not only did this guy know he was a cat without needing to be shown, but he could be a cat too! Mikey hadn't played with another cat in a really long time.

"We can play chase, and hide, and climb! And we can stalk things. And when we take a nap, I'll let you lay on me, okay? To say thank you for being a cat. I'll clean your ears too, if you want, I don't mind."

"There's a collie I like to be." Sam shrugged. He didn't know what to make of the word 'mutant' in connection with any shifting abilities. They'd always been supernatural - supes. 'Mutant' seemed all too scientific, or science fiction. It had nothing to do with the supernatural, and that was all Sam knew.

"I haven't really been a cat before. I'd need the animal, to get to know it." He didn't seem put out by the guy and his excited nature. He understood the need to be with those who were like him; Sam had actually kept his brother around for longer than was probably smart because he'd needed other shifters close. It was hard to be the only one sometimes.

"I don't exactly keep my form when I fall asleep." He'd had a very embarrassing wake up one morning. He didn't seem put out by the napping with someone else, a male someone else. Animals were different. Even the ear cleaning didn't seem that worrisome. There was a slight shrug as he looked around the room.

"I'll think about it, okay?" That was the best he could give the guy with the tail.

"A collie." Mikey knew that a collie was a dog, but he couldn't bring the picture of it to his brain. It didn't matter. "So if I become a cat, you can become a cat after me?"

He'd never really seen anything like that before. But he still thought it was really awesome. He was kind of jealous, even though he probably wouldn't ever be anything but a cat if he had the choice, since cats were superior to everything.

"Why don't you keep it?" That made no sense at all. Mikey always kept whatever form he was in when he fell asleep. Except for that one time with Gloria. And that had been really bad.

But Mikey thought of something else. "Oh! I'm Mikey. My name is Mikey. I'm a cat who can become a boy. And I like chicken. The kind with the crispy skin, but you have to take the skin off. And cheesecake."

He was about as bad as if he'd been given the nip, his excitement was so high. The words were coming out of his mouth randomly. He was hardly paying attention, he was so excited at the idea of being a cat and having another cat around. The fact that the guy had said he liked to be a dog more hardly even registering.

"I don't know if that would be the best way. You aren't exactly just a cat." Sam gave Mikey an unsure smile. He didn't know how to handle this one. Sam could be anything he wanted, save for humans because they were a little too complex. A were or mutant or whatever the hell this kid was was a little too close to human for Sam's comfort.

"Best I find a regular cat who doesn't get two legs." He didn't want to go into an explanation for why much less for the sleeping, but he shrugged and tried a quick little explanation anyway. "I have to concentrate; it kind of undoes itself when I'm sleeping." There was probably a better way to explain it, but he went with what he had.

"Mikey. Okay, Mikey. I'm Sam, and I like chicken all kinds. And cheesecake's not bad." He had seen this sort of thing in some younger were, and a few of the kids who came in to the bar when they could come in legally. It was just a strange new excitement. He'd felt it when he was younger.

"So, how long have you been...uhm, traveling with these people?" He didn't know if he meant the aliens or the abductees. It really didn't matter.

"Hm." Mikey thought about that. He didn't see where the problem was, but if Sam said he needed something specific, Mikey was going to believe him. "What about a picture? I could draw a picture of a cat for you."

There were colored pencils in here somewhere. Possibly some crayons, too. He'd seen them at some point when he'd gone through his whirlwind inspection of his things. He was looking around at what was in the room. That's when he saw the Cat Fancy sitting on the bed. Mikey pointed at it with a question in his eyes.

"Sam likes chicken!" He exclaimed. In his head, Mikey was planning the deep and meaningful relationship that he was going to have with Sam in the future. They were going to have chicken. They were going to be cats. They were going to have some nip, and maybe a little lay down - but not a nap, because then Sam might lose his shape, and while cuddling with a guy wasn't so bad, Mikey preferred this particular thing to be with another cat.

He settled down to answer Sam's question. "Um." He thought. "I got on a bus and it took me to Electric City, I was in New York before. I met Niks, and she took me home. Then I met Evan, and he smells like icky dogface. But then I met Simon, and Simon smells like delicious. I like Simon. He gives me stuff. We all went to this weird place that had Spring and Fall together, and Halloween and bunnies and it was kind of scary. And then there were other places. But now we're here."

Mikey didn't have a huge grasp on the movement of time.

"No, sorry, Mikey. It doesn't work that way either. I've been a few things; maybe we can find something that will work with the cat, but right now, I think maybe you should walk, get out of here." The place still had a smell that wasn't all that agreeable to Sam.

"You may need to take a walk or something." Sam did. He didn't like staying in one place too long, at least when it wasn't his own home. He could stand behind his bar or lounge on his porch for hours, but this wasn't his bar or his porch.

"Evan smells like icky dogface? Wolf? Or just dog?" He didn't think the guy could answer, and he wondered how old the kid was. He'd know some weres who didn't take well to the change, and some were so inbred that they never grew up. Maybe this was the kid's case, no matter what he said about mutants.

"Wanna show me this Evan?" Sam was all for avoiding the Niks who may be a woman and the delicious smelling Simon. Anything that smelled delicious probably wasn't good.

"Oh." That was sad. Mikey was going to take Sam's word that they would find something. Something that wasn't a dog. That would be good. It would happen, he had confidence. Sam wouldn't just say something that wasn't true. Sam had helped him throw up. They were friends for life now.

"We can take a walk." The cat wondered if it was a dog thing. If he wanted to just take a walk because that was what dogs liked. He still couldn't be upset about it, Sam being more dog-like. Maybe it was because Sam didn't smell all the way dog.

"Um. Like a dog who isn't a dog, but not like how you don't smell like dog. He smells like the forest and wild and gnashy teeth and howling." Maybe that was what wolves smell like. "The other boy that I met at school who was a dog smelled like actual dog. Like rolling around in dirt and wind and kibble."

He had seen that boy eat kibble. So maybe that wasn't a fair assessment. It might have just been Mikey projecting. Not that he knew what projecting meant.

"I guess I can show you Evan. But he's not fun. He took me to a place where they did stuff after he fed me something that made me sleep. And he took Niks away. Plus he smells."

"Sure. you can show me Evan." Sam nodded slightly. "Let's walk first. Maybe they've got somewhere we can run or do something." He didn't know exactly what else to say. The guy had a little too much energy, especially after being sick. He supposed it was a were/mutant thing. There was little they didn't just get over quickly.

"What do you say? Just a little walk around." He laughed softly and started to step away toward the door. Sam even motioned for the guy to come along with him. This was actually a little odd, to be helping out a were who wouldn't claim being a were.

"Maybe you can show me where you got all this food, without actually getting some for now?" He nodded slightly, not wanting to tempt the cat. He was curious to know how easy it was to get all this food.

"Maybe show me this Niks and Simon - don't introduce me, just show." He gave Mikey a slight smile.

"Walk, okay." Mikey nodded and led Sam out of the room with no other conversation about it to be had. He might need to be prodded into things sometimes, but when he was sure somebody was determined to do something that didn't disagree with him in general, he didn't need to be ordered to do it.

First, Mikey took him around the hallway, the strange circle. He pointed to where Evan stayed, and Niks, and Simon, finding them all easily through smell. He knew them all well. He also pointed out where the strange pirate woman stayed and where the birds were. But nobody was in their rooms, which meant they were probably on the second level.

Mikey took Sam to the elevator and didn't say anything as he pressed the button on the inside to take them to the area where all the food was. He didn't move past the doors much when they opened, thinking it would be easier to pinpoint everyone from where they were.

"Oh. There's Evan." Mikey saw him wander by. He scanned for Niks, but didn't see her immediately. He did notice Simon, though, standing by the window. "That's Simon over there. You should go smell him."

But most importantly, was the food window. Mikey pointed that out with enthusiasm. "There's the food. You get food there. You just walk up and tell them what you want and you get Exactly What You Want. All of it."

Sam followed, catching a few scents along the way. One held wolf, then the others were...different. Familiar yet not. He just nodded and settled into a slouch of sorts as they rode the elevator down.

He didn't step too far away, quickly noticing that Mikey hadn't moved far from the elevator. He also took a discreet sniff as 'Evan' walked by. Woods and wild, or barely domesticated. Annoyingly familiar. He didn't focus long on that one, but instead he turned his attention to 'Simon.'

"I think it's best I don't. Usually what smells good when it comes to people isn't the safest to be around." Sam had a few years on Mikey, from what he could tell anyway. Then food came up.

"Good to know. Thanks, Mikey." Sam actually patted the cat on the shoulder, as if he'd done a good job. In a way he had. "I would suggest you avoid it for a bit. Let your stomach get back to normal first."

Mikey was proud of himself. He didn't know what Sam meant about the best smelling people not being the best to be around. That was contrary to everything he knew. But if Sam didn't want to go smell Simon, there wasn't any way to make him. So he just shrugged.

Despite his brain being interested in the food window, Mikey's stomach turned in a nasty way when he thought of going to get more to eat. For the first time in probably all of his life, he didn't want to follow the whims and impulses that cropped up.

"You're welcome. I'm going to go back upstairs and lay down." He thought that a nap would be nice. He didn't let Sam have a word against it, just stepped forward and hugged the so-called shifter. "I'll see you later. And we'll play."

His tail flicked lazily behind him as he turned back to the elevator and got into it, waving after he pressed the button to go back up.
