"You will though,' Jo said. "Mary told me about what you two were in her time. Do you know how creepy that is? We're friends and then you wait decades and sleep with my daughter?"
She sighed, the anger evaporating as quickly as it had come. The look on Johnny's face and the fact that he wasn't wrong in fearing for his life due to that secret, all of that diffused the tension a bit. And regardless of how angry she was with Mary, Jo trusted Mary's judgment. She knew damn well that she hadn't raised someone who was an idiot, which meant that Mary knew what she was doing in trusting him.
"I'm not going to hunt you, Johnny," she said. She hadn't known what she was going to do until she'd spoken the words, but now that they were out there, she was sure it was the truth.
"But if something happens and you start to turn against us, I'll kill you so she doesn't have to."
If he was the man she thought he was, Jo was pretty sure that Johnny would understand and even appreciate that.
