Niks sat up, finally waking up. She'd been aware of the islands, and she was grateful that she hadn't died by being roasted out in the sun on a beach. Perhaps she'd woken up enough to find her way to somewhere quiet, but she was still getting used to how easily she could slip back and forth between the Dreamlands and the waking world. She found herself so very at ease in the other world that the waking one was beginning to feel not at all real or desirable.
It wasn't until she found herself surrounded by her things from Electric City that she felt even more stable, more attached. Of course, it all came with the feeling that she was not alone, not even a little bit. Not even with humans, normal nonmagical other humans. She wanted to explore, to understand. She also hoped to find someone she knew, so she let the Dreamlands wait for now, pulled on her usual uniform, including the silk stockings and heels, and headed out.
The librarian didn't even click as she walked; she almost glided, which was possibly a small feat in those shoes. She moved easily enough from her room and along the hallway, fingers possibly crossed in finding someone who was familiar.
