No human should be able to catch up to her; that wasn't how it all worked. But since Harry, and Lindsey, and York... and since she'd made an effort to come back from that colder place she'd been when Lindsey disappeared, Phaedra was allowing herself to be more human.
She knew it might not be a good idea.
Phaedra's head swiveled when she heard her name called, and she slowed her pace even more.
She regarded Jo with a raised eyebrow and a pleasant expression, though not a smile. Phaedra wasn't ever very smiley, but given that at any moment she could be hurled into a different world, smiling was sort of out.
