Clark picked up on the soft 'uhm' even without having to actively use his super hearing. He froze in mid-air and didn't turn around just yet. There were a few options here. He could simply fly away and hope she hadn't gotten a good glimpse of him. He could try to come up with some sort of cover story, but what was there to say really?
Or he could simply turn around and face the music. He'd already started to wonder if it was feasible to keep his secret with this group of people. Perhaps he'd even wondered if he wanted to. The idea of having someone to confide in, someone who truly knew he was... he already missed having that in his parents.
He took a deep breath and made his decision. He turned and floated downward, landing in front of the blonde. He gave her a small smile and held out one of the brightly colored red fruits that he'd plucked from the top of the tree.
"Hungry?" he asked, both trying to be polite and stalling a little bit for time.
