The way she said his name and mentioned that she had some preconceived notions made Clark blink in surprise. He wasn't sure why anyone would know who he was unless they followed bylines. And he wasn't sure whether to be happy or worried that he'd found someone from his world who must be interested in journalism to some degree.
"You've heard of me?" he asked, still a little surprised and instinctively retreating into the mild-mannered reporter act. He wasn't stuttering, but he was darn near. "And you thought I'd be... what?"
He offered his hand to the woman.
"It's nice to meet you, Olivia Dunham," he said, his Kansas farmboy manners shining through. That was second nature to him. Not to mention that if this woman was being truthful about keeping his secret, he couldn't help but feel a debt of gratitude to her.
