Hope wasted no time. She got to her knees and started wrapping up the leg where the worst of the bites were, being as careful as she could while still being effective.
"I'm not the best healer," she said by way of conversation, a self-depreciating smile going with the words. "I never really was very good at much of anything except keeping people going. But sometimes, you know... sometimes that's enough." She didn't add that sometimes, she wished she didn't make people keep moving. Sometimes, she wished she could let them fall and let it be over. But she... she couldn't; it simply wasn't in her.
Ripping the bandage with her teeth when it had been wrapped enough times around the great leg, she tucked the end into the wrapping. "There," she said. "It might not be good to get it wet, though. Do you think you could put your foot on dry land? And let me see the other leg?"
It would take some coordination; she could tell already that she would probably have to get back into the water again. Lucky for her, she'd taken off her boots already.
