When she mentioned having been born into a life of hunting, Cas supposed that made her similar to the Winchesters. And Jo. If it was in the family, then it seemed to be inevitable. Though Cas had seen few other options for himself. His understanding of the human world aside, he had few skills outside of combat and a vast knowledge of supernatural lore. Those were not exactly applicable to what Sam referred to as an "apple pie life." And personally, Cas didn't understand the infatuation with pie.
"Do you enjoy it?" he asked.
When she smiled, he took it as friendly and offered one of his own, no matter how faint. Cas still smiled in full very rarely, often too self-conscious to even attempt it. "I would," he replied nodding. "But I've noticed no werewolves or shapeshifters since our arrival. What I have noticed...is far worse."
