He knew that it was in the past, but he also wanted her to know that she wasn't going to be shouldering that burden by herself. It had been foolish to let her walk out the door. Harry would have only thought Johnny was in the doghouse if he'd gone upstairs, would never have yelled at him or indicated he was in more trouble for doing it. And both he and Mary knew that without asking.
