"Very few of us are," he replied bluntly. "I...take it you're aware that one of our number has been taken by the killer. But in addition to that, this place is not as any of us know it. It...lacks what we know best. It's uncomfortable. And infuriating."
Cas saw no reason not to speak freely with her, knowing she would likely disapprove more if he were to even attempt lying. It would have been foolish to begin with, since lying was still not a skill he was even remotely in possession of. And he was not at the moment, looking for a confrontation. If she wished to meet him in combat some other time, he would oblige but not until then. Not until Mary was found.
"Jo sent me here. To ask a favor of you. Granted, I will understand if you choose not to accept it."
Having been asked several favors over the years without any questions regarding his well-being or state of mind, Cas understood exactly how offensive such a thing could be. Yet he was only the messenger and was doing what he'd been asked to do. And he would bear no false witness. "In all honesty, it would likely be more satisfying to deny it."
