Johnny didn't want to argue what Rob was saying, because he didn't want to sound like a dick. But he knew where he was heading first. Even if Mary was in a room beyond the one that this mystery woman occupied, Johnny would pass her right by. With absolutely no guilt at all.
"Well." He thought about it as he followed Max, who seemed to have an idea where they were going. "Is there any real reason that we've been thinking it's a man? I mean, beyond the idea of what a typical serial killer is? If you're looking at clues that state we're aiming for a female, let's go with them. I've seen enough shit from people in my time to not take anything for granted."
Johnny paused at a shop door as they passed, thinking about who he might want to call. Harry again. Pass the info on. It would just be a fast thing, that call. Lay out the address, and that was that. Not only would it be what the others would want, but it would be safer, too. Foolish to rush headlong into the fire like this, not knowing if backup was on the way, or if they were snagged up somewhere else.
"Just give me a minute." He ducked into the little store.
