Max claimed the list while the kid decided to give his two cents. He didn't say anything yet, just read the list. The p.i. nodded slightly looking over the list.
"Two others are among the missing. The reason those girls were crying." He didn't think anyone would believe that he would hurt the girls or make them cry, but he wanted to explain what was going on all the same. "She may be with the killer, she may be dead. Either way, we have to find out what the hell's going on. Maybe Mary will be there."
He nodded at the two men and headed in a different direction, expecting them to follow. It wasn't too far away, but they needed to hurry.
"You got anyone you wanna call in on this? I'd say keeping this low key might be the best. If he doesn't know we're coming, we may save more people that way." Max paused for a moment. "Something's bugging me though. How could this be a 'he'? Not that many men would be at the tearoom. It wouldn't work that way. Plus, the way the bodies were left..." He just was sure.
"It's just not usual..." He wasn't stopping to think, but he was certainly thinking.
