Johnny moved into the office and found a desk to lean against. He didn't feel like sitting just now. Sitting would make him fidgety. He also didn't really feel like having a chat, but he guessed he couldn't avoid that so much.
"I wasn't left here with them." He shrugged. "I guess they wanted me to fit in a little better. I was plopped down in fancy suit."
He didn't mention that normally there weren't chaps. He got what Max was getting at. The normal outfit wasn't there. Johnny was tromping around in regular people clothing. It still felt strange for him. Even if he had managed to find an acceptable hat.
"I was actually coming to see about files on that serial killer." Johnny looked at the food, realized that he hadn't eaten anything since Mary had left. It wasn't that he thought he'd die of starvation, food was just comforting. It might help him take part of his mind off the problems at hand. "I didn't think I'd find anybody here other than a secretary."
Finally, he made a decision and nodded. "If you don't think she'll be pissed I'm eating her food, that'd be great."
