A... cat. Rayne folded her hands together behind her back and rolled her weight from her heels to her toes and back. If this creature Kai described were indeed an elf, the natural inclination toward animals would be understandable. But there was still the strangeness of such a description -- a self-aware cat. It implied something deeper.
Clearly, however, there was very little left to gain from asking this woman more. Rayne answered, with no laughter in her voice, "I will do what I can to learn more about this person that you find disconcerting. In my land, many would believe that you were describing an elf. They do not prefer my kind, either. I will remain cautious."
She unthreaded her hands, then, and let them drop to her sides.
"Thank you, Kai," she said. For more than just the information -- for also going against her own nature to allow for this dialog at all. It was, Rayne understood, a very difficult thing.
