Mary had been just about to fire off a sarcastic remark along those lines when Johnny corrected himself. She grinned as she joined him in the kitchen area with her own empty glass, ready for a refill.
"Or you could do your own damn shopping," she confirmed, though her tone was much lighter than the words might have implied.
"Besides, I figured you'd want to pick out your own hat."
After all, he did seem almost unnaturally attached to his old one and she wouldn't dare try to pick a new one for him unless she found one that was exactly like the one he'd always had.
