Johnny nodded. From what he knew of Mary, she'd always been in the thick of things. He'd at least had the luxury of a normal childhood and a college life, as well as a career before he'd ever gotten into the truly strange. His peaceful life had been a long one, in the terms of a vigilante and hunter.
"Gets a bit tedious, just coming home after closing the bar, doesn't it? Listening to the radio. Not going out to make sure there's nothing creepy crawly doing anything bad."
He supposed he could have looked around for his original set of prey. The bad guys, criminals. But he didn't feel like Mary would take well to killing humans who weren't anything more than human. And he didn't feel right leaving her at the apartment when he was off having - not fun, but something more than the radio provided.
At her suggestion, he had to smile. "I think that'd be a lot of fun, actually. Maybe we can make a night of it. Have some dinner, catch a late show. Hey, people actually dress up to go to the movies in this time, don't they?"
