Mary thought about what she had learned. Not a whole lot, when it came down to it. She'd felt like she was asking too many questions and yet she didn't think she'd asked anything personal or anything that might tell her more about this newcomer. She'd been too distracted with trying to help him get acclimated. She was usually more on point than that.
"He's from LA in 2007," she said quietly, leaning forward just a bit to make sure that no one else overheard. To anyone else, it simply might look like a wife sharing something with her husband. The cover worked well in this case.
Mary accepted the drink but didn't leave just yet.
"He seems to have had an easier start than we did on this planet. Says he woke up in an apartment with money and everything."
That... didn't sit all that well with her. She wasn't sure, but wouldn't this only be an effective experiment if everyone started out the same way on each planet? Unless there was a control group of some sort.
"You still have a bad feeling about the guy?" she asked.
While sitting with Lucas, she hadn't thought anything of the story he'd spun for her. Now, she found that she wasn't quite sure how to feel about the story or the man telling it.
