Mary didn't want to give names and even a good number of how many were out there, so she simply avoided the first question. He would have to find out for himself. And she'd be damned if she put her parents in danger, assuming that Johnny's instincts were right.
She had to give him something, however. An answer that would be important enough to divert attention from the answer that she wasn't giving. Which meant answering the second question and delving into the exact thing that she wasn't quite ready to talk about.
"She told us that we won't age while we're a part of the experiment. I'm taking that to mean that they intend to have us here for awhile."
Her tone was neutral, but she did carefully watch the stranger for his reaction to the news. There was some sympathy in her expression. Whether she trusted him or not, this wasn't happy news to share.
