It was very good that Johnny didn't mention anything about 'staking a claim' or letting it be known that she was his by that kiss she'd given him on the cheek. She wasn't anyone's to be claimed. She would give her heart willingly, but that was different than being territory to be marked or any of that other alpha male crap.
However, the kiss on the cheek might have been as much show as reassurance. She wasn't going anywhere unless he told her in no uncertain words that he wanted her to go. She gave Johnny one more reassuring smile and then turned her attention back to Lucas. Tray in hand, she delivered the drink to his table.
"I'll tally up your total for the round you just bought after you're done drinking for the night," she said with a small smile.
Just a reminder that he'd offered to buy those drinks. She certainly wasn't going to have it come out of her tips, even if she did want to help the guy.
She didn't sit down right away, but she did linger over the table. Whether she was waiting for an invitation or whether she preferred having the higher ground while she considered Johnny's concern yet again and tried to get a feel for the man who certainly stood out in this setting.
