"No, no, they weren't." Olivia might have been in a uniform, but some people wouldn't see it as anything more than some fancy dress. Or something that went against what a real woman was.
"Then again, you have more women in the workforce. That's when we entered the workforce - no men around to do what needed to be done." It wasn't a perfect answer, and it was something of a consolation prize. But, they couldn't dwell on the bad. She couldn't let herself dwell on the bad; she needed to find a way home. She could and would do it.
"There's not a chance you know a place to stay around here, is there?" She gave Eva a slight smile. "Will have to figure it out."
