He let Mary sleep on for a little bit even after he noticed there were people out and about, going to work or whatever it was they did with their lives on a day to day basis. Mary was sleeping so well, so soundly, that he didn't really have it in him to disturb her right away.
But he also knew that if he let her sleep too long, she'd be really pissed.
Thinking about their situation had gone right down the drain after the second or third shift of the night. He'd let go of any pretense pretty quickly after she had. It was outright more comfortable to use one another as pillows, and it was plain old nice to have the warmth of her next to him, no matter if he was the pillow or it was the other way around. And it wasn't because of the nip in the air or any of the rest of it. It was Mary. He was sure he wouldn't have felt this way if it'd been somebody else out here with him.
"Hey." He brushed the hair from her eyes and waited. Then, not knowing another gentle way to rouse a woman from her sleep, he poked her in the shoulder. "Hey. Time to get up."
