It was a strange thing, the way that being touched by her brought a comfort, but that comfort was quickly followed by an overwhelming unsure feeling and a bit of awkwardness. He could tell that it was the same for her. And that she had no more of a clue than he did when it came down to what to do about it.
"Kind of nice to be in a place without all that light pollution." He decided that changing the subject entirely was for the best at the moment. "There's nothing like being able to see the stars."
Johnny leaned forward a bit to get a better view, then sat back. He knew that Mary wasn't particularly tired, and even understood why. There was so much going on. But if she let herself run until she just passed out, she'd feel horrible in the morning.
So, wordlessly, he reached out and grasped her hand, then pulled her closer so that she could lean on him and be comfortable. His hope was that she'd drift off without realizing it, and get some real rest.
