If any of them tried to hunt him down, they'd have to go through her. Mary loved her family, but she wasn't going to let them hunt Johnny down. She thought briefly that Cas might actually understand. He might not, but he seemed like he might be more open to understanding than some of them. Rob was still an unknown quantity.
As if moving of its own accord, her hand rested briefly on his. She didn't think about the gesture until after the fact. After, she folded both hands in her lap.
"I'm okay with that. We've got other things to worry about."
And so did they. It might take them a little longer than otherwise to get around to the uncomfortable questions and to the point where they had to figure out what to say.
Mary stare outside the gazebo for a little bit. The sky was a velvety black, dotted with stars that twinkled brightly. If she didn't think about it too much, it could simply be a nice evening in the park after a picnic dinner. It was almost peaceful, if she didn't give it too much thought.
