"You think I should try to pass myself off as a guy? I'm not cutting my hair."
She brushed the hair in question back from her shoulder. It was vain, sure. But she was entitled to a little vanity. Wasn't she?
"Though I wouldn't say no to some pants."
Mary settled herself on to the bench inside the gazebo and even smoothed the folds of her skirt somewhat before she took off the offending heels.
"You need engineer boots? I need shoes that aren't going to make me break my neck if I have to run from something."
Knowing what went bump in the night, it was a very real fear. Being able to run at a moment's notice was crucial to survival. Mary knew that. She pursed her lips and watched as Johnny settled himself in.
"Do you think we need to go job hunting? Think we'll be here that long?"
It was possible, and she wasn't sure how she felt about that prospect. Then again, she was definitely sure that she didn't like the idea of another planet jump either. Unless the jump was back to Earth.
