"It was very unlady like of you to ride like you were." He agreed. "But I have to tell you that riding side-saddle on that beast isn't a great idea. It's got too much torque. You'd fly right off. I think the next best thing is to get you some boy clothes and make it look like you're just another guy. Or you deal with whatever stares come your way and ride however you like."
Johnny clomped up the steps of the gazebo and sat on the bench that circled the inside of it. There was no door to close and lock, no windows to keep the bugs out, but there was a roof, and that would save them from rain at least.
"Peanut butter and honey is fine by me." He nodded. "But ask me again after we've had it for three days straight."
He put his feet out in front of him and looked down to where the boots should have been. Those shiny shoes glaring back at him just wouldn't do.
"We need money. Fast. I need engineer boots and a hat. This is not going to work." And a place to stay, of course.
