Johnny sat on his bike, gnawing on his bottom lip, while he watched Mary inside the store, picking out food. He was doing his best to not expect the worst, but his head kept swimming around the idea that the coin might bring the police down on them, or something might be lurking in there, waiting to pounce. The idea of the police actually worried him more. Mary was a hunter and knew how to fight monsters. But what would they tell the cops? Sorry officer, we're from a different planet, and we didn't get dropped off with all our shit this time, and were just looking for something to eat?
They'd be locked up in a heartbeat.
He didn't feel better until she was near again. Smiling, grocery bag in hand. Stuffed with food. At least they wouldn't have to worry about that for a couple of days. Sure, they'd probably be a little sick of sandwiches for a while, but that was better than starving.
"Look at you. Falling into the role of housewife so easily." He tensed, getting ready to be hit.
"You get any change from that venture? We should look at the coins if you did."
