Mary had few qualms about stealing if it was needed, as long as they weren't stealing food directly from a family or some other person who needed it more than they did. She considered the coin in Johnny's hand for just a minute.
"If it's real, we could possibly use it to buy bread or something to tide us over until tomorrow. And if not, guess we'll just have to pull a Bonnie and Clyde somewhere."
Wrong decade, but Bonnie and Clyde references were timeless. Mary grinned. It was a little fun, the idea of fending for themselves for the moment. She didn't mind the adventure of nt having things come easily. She was used to fighting, both figuratively and literally, in her life. Having things handed to her on a silver platter had never felt right.
Granted, this wasn't going to be her favorite way to be either, but she was okay with it for now.
"So, food first and then we go circle the park and see if we can find a safe place to tuck away for the night."
Her stomach grumbled appreciatively at the mention of food. Which she supposed settled things.
