Johnny had stayed outside, not feeling the need to be at the meeting with Jo and Dean while Mary informed them that she would be wandering off on her own for the night. He was already getting suspect glances from Jo, and didn't want to push his luck.
"Normally I wouldn't suggest it, but since this seems to be a better time with cleaner streets, I saw a park not too far from here. We'll have to hope like hell that it doesn't rain, and we might want to do the actual sleeping part in shifts just to be safe..."
He shrugged a bit, it was up to her, really. That was the start and end of his planning. He'd been doing more worrying about what Jo and Dean might say. As if they were all actually from the 40s, and Mary's parents might not approve of her going out with a boy who rode a motorcycle. He'd stopped short of chewing on his nails anxiously while he waited.
His brilliant idea was sleeping in the park. He knew it was just a couple steps up from sleeping at a bus stop. But maybe they could pretend they were camping.
Johnny had checked his pockets to find no cash at all, and was pretty sure that since his cell phone was essentially just a lump of plastic, that the credit cards Mary might have had wouldn't do much of anything either.
"I did find something while you were in there, though." He held up a coin that seemed to be a normal half dollar. "Look at it close."
