Evan understood some, that a fairy wouldn't find death appealing. He didn't even know if they could die naturally. The idea of it had to be irritating and offputting to a creature that could live so long.
"Hey." He said it softly, realizing how upset Niks really was. "I'll do something, okay? I'll find a necklace of iron or have one made. I'll wear it or keep it on me all the time, I promise."
He'd been teasing her thus far, trying to push her buttons. He didn't think she'd be so emotional about this though, he didn't think that she took the rivalry between them as seriously as he did. Maybe she did, after all. Maybe she really did see the kind of pain and torture Simon could inflict without ever raising a finger and why Evan worried so much over the fairy hating him.
Seeing the change in her, the joy that her roommate brought her, the uplifting of her voice into awe and amazement, then those tears, it made Evan pause a moment, not knowing what to do. Niks was displaying all the things that he might feel upon finding something like the Dreamlands texts.
"What?" He grasped her face in his hands and made her look at him. His voice was low, too. More because hers was. "What is she? Niks? What? I won't tell a soul."
