Despite having just met the other man, Cas felt strangely honored. He didn't see where being labeled as such could be considered insulting or understand what it was to be a mutant. If he was one as Piotr suggested, then he always had been and there was no need to question it. "Thank you," he replied, the corners of his mouth tugging slightly. "That is...I think I would like that."
On the matter of Piotr's family, he had no judgment to pass. Providing no one had been senselessly killed outside of battle, it was no longer his place to pass such judgment. He hunted monsters and not human beings. There had been a time where he'd wondered why hunters had to limit themselves to simply monsters, but then he very much doubted he would be able to kill a human. Despite any wrongs they may have done, he still felt a need to act more as humanity's shepherd rather than their executioner.
"If you were acting under orders, then I see little reason to," he admitted. "So long as you understand that mistakes were potentially made and you atone for them. Beyond that, there is very little you can do," he replied.
Cas knew he was speaking from experience. With Anna and the boys, he'd made more than a few mistakes and many that were regrettable. Atoning for them was all he had left, given his now very limited power.
"Heaven does not judge solely based on your past misdeeds," he explained. "Despite any of the changes it has undergone, that is one thing that remains true to what my Father originally decreed."
