Phaedra couldn't help the giggle that came out of her mouth at the suggestion. As though, in her three hundred years, she had not taken the time to learn to pick or disarm a lock...
But she hadn't thought about the fact that the blood might not be human. That did make her stop walking, but only for a second. She paused in the middle of the hospital hallway, just for a heartbeat.
There wasn't a lot of choice. She'd have to try it, and see what happened. Phaedra had fed on animals in the past, and on things like werewolves. The likelihood that some kind of alien blood might harm her was very slim.
And she had to try. Because no one was really going to like the alternative. If, as Cas was suggesting, there were few humans in this place, that likely meant they were the humans she already knew.
Phaedra did not think many of them would like being used in rotation to keep her from ripping their throats out.
She stopped just in front of the door to the blood bank, which was marked as such.
"Are you certain that it's not human blood?" Phaedra asked.
A nurse stopped, giving her a quizzical look. Silently, Phaedra told her nothing was wrong, that everything was fine... and the nurse kept walking.
