Mary really hated to be the one swinging that hammer. She winced and looked down.
"I'm like a bull in a china shop. Sorry," she muttered.
She assumed that by her time, Johnny had had an awful lot of time to realize just what living forever and the way he'd come back meant. That might have been why he'd chosen to hide things-especially from a hunter.
She took a deep breath and looked up again.
"You're still more human than about 95% of the guys I've met in my life," she said, her lips curving up in a small attempt at a smile.
