The sudden voice startled Sympathy into action. She hadn't known that anybody was nearby, let alone that close to her. She really really hated being snuck up on, taken by surprise. Rarely could anybody do it, and the anger was great when it did happen.
She was on her feet with her flintlock out and pointed toward the woman who was perched on the top of the fountain. It took her a moment to see through the complete stillness to recognize she was not looking at a statue. The clothing was strange, but that was nothing new to her anymore. Everybody here wore strange things. The not moving bit was unnerving.
However, the lack of attack had the pirate lowering the weapon and tucking it back into her belt. She felt confident that she would be able to get it out again should this woman make a move toward her. That or a knife. She had many of those and they were very easy to get to. Sympathy was not afraid of a fight.
"I have no idea what this club soda is." She said around the cigarillo, which had lost its ember in her fast movements. "I have doubts about the abilities of it. I have been here for minutes, using everything I know to use and this yellow stain keeps on."
She gestured to the shirt, annoyed. Then at herself, wearing only a band of cloth across her chest. "I would abandon it altogether, if I had anything else to wear."
Sympathy did not step closer to the fountain, instead pulling out her little box of matches to relight the last of her smokes.
"You should not be sneaking up on people, eh? That is a good way to end up with a lead ball in your chest."
