"Yeah. Well, it was like that. When we were 13 or so." Aaron smiled. "Mind if we walk, kind of feel weird standing here and talking in the middle of Underhill." Evan didn't seem to mind, and they started walking in no real direction. Aaron just needed the movement.
"Course, you were brought over to see if you were gonna go the way of the wolf, and to see if the Tower would want you. They're not the big bads in my world. We got some, but they aren't it. Had a few partners who thought that, only one of them washed out. He couldn't get out of his own head." It was sad when that happened, but not everyone was meant to serve.
"You got snatched up quick like. I came in a little later. Didn't exactly follow the normal way of the wolf. Took some asshole with too much power to make my first change." He was still working on the shame of it. He hadn't gone about things in the normal way, and there were times he felt less than for it.
"Now I help with the new guys and gals. I am usually their first partner out in the field. I got a knack I guess." He could definitely feel proud about that. He had found his place in the world with it.
