The librarian leaned against Simon. Her mind worked through all the possible answers to his offering to let her stay, or more giving her permission to stay. She sighed softly, giving him a quick kiss to the cheek.
"I won't stay. You know I can't. My world is with you, with the rest of the travelers. I can't stay if they don't remain. I don't think the aliens would allow it anyway. I'd rather have a large library if I get to pick where I can go and stay." She smiled up at him, her fingers squeezing his again.
"How can I be happy if I'm alone?" She knew that could sound pathetic, but she really didn't care. How could she be happy if she lived in a world without him? It was possibly a little more open than usual; her hand lifted to brush her fingers along his jaw and lips.
