"I want to be out there." Simon informed her. He might have been convincing himself, as well. There might be anger, later. Toward himself, for nonsense reason, toward her for letting him explore, toward the aliens for being able to do what he couldn't have done for himself. But right now he was filled with a need to be around the things and people of his home. He wanted to show Niks the wonders of his realm.
There was no absurd desire to track down his parents. To inquire about the little boy they had stolen and replaced him with. No, that wasn't fair. They hadn't wanted a human child over a fairy. That's not how changelings worked. They merely wanted to place a fairy in the human world. He imagined it was a prank. It could have held some other purpose. In the end, it didn't matter. It had happened.
