"Fairies are an interesting people." Sam didn't want to say they could be a real pain in the ass. He didn't add that he'd fallen for a halfling, or whatever the hell they wanted to call her. He didn't add that she smelled so good there were times he wanted to roll around in her sheets. No, he just stood there, watching the elves giggle among themselves.
"You could gather them around you for bodyguards, or human shields." He shrugged and watched as one of the elves came closer.
"No thanks." Sam answered any request before it could be made. It seemed the safest way, and it nearly broke his heart the way the little guy pouted, head down. That wasn't playing fair, but Sam wasn't going to give in. He would be no elf's pony.
