It was nice, holding onto Rob like this. Better now that they weren't in a situation that dredged up old memories.
"You say this, but you cannot know." Piotr couldn't imagine trying to sit with Rob and having a normal conversation prior to his time at Malden. He didn't have very many conversations at all when he'd just been a weapon, let alone normal ones. He'd never been big on chit chat when he'd been on a job. Neither had his partners.
"It is very different, how you grew up and how I did. I was not treated like a person. I was a thing. Until the day they dumped me on the side of the road for my sister to pick up, I was an object. I had been told my sister was dead, my brother was dead, my family was dead, so that I would have no emotional ties. They did not let me feel anything."
Piotr looked at the snow. "Played in it. Threw it at one another. Sometimes with rocks in the middle. Built forts. Snowmen. Snow armies. We did many things with it, because it was everywhere."
