Piotr felt at peace. Truly at peace. Maybe for the first time since he'd started this trip. He was sitting in the snow and making a snowman, enjoying it. The cold bit at him a little bit, but not too much. Enough to make the tip of his nose red, give a little color to his cheeks.
He looked up at Rob, smiled. "I lived in Siberia. This is not so cold."
The snow made the world more quiet, cleaner, gave everything a new look. Not that he would have known what this place looked like otherwise, as it was entirely new. But snow always gave him a sense of hope.
Maybe it was also because the fields and farm didn't have to be worked in winter. It was his time to be a little boy. To have fun with his siblings and parents. To see his friends, who were also usually busy with chores.
