The sound of his name alone would have made him happy, having not heard it said with familiar tones in so long. But the voice it was attached to kicked the joy in him up to near delirious levels.
He turned to look and smiled the biggest, stupidest smile he had in him. It was really her. Really and truly her.
Johnny didn't wait for her to make it to him, he helped to close the distance between them. When they were near enough, he wrapped her in his arms and held her tightly. He didn't know what new games the aliens were playing with him, only that he didn't like it at all. He'd missed her, but now he knew just how much he had.
He didn't want to say anything immediately. Just wanted to soak her in and be there in the moment. They had time, he hoped, to do all the catching up.
