Kai loved the snow. She loved the way that winter felt on her skin, the way that the flakes caught in her lashes. She'd bounded out of her cabin with a smile on her face, ready to face this world. When she'd gotten out here, she'd seen the little elves and they'd sung a song for her. She'd reveled in the beauty of the decorations and all the lights.
But then she'd seen the ice skating rink, and it was all over. Nothing else in the world mattered now. There had been free skate rentals, though she would have found SOME way to rent them if there hadn't been. Even if she'd had to go beg a hundred of the little elves.
She had no idea how long she'd been skating. Her muscles ached in a pleasing way, though. Her nose and cheeks were red from the cold and the wind she created as she moved.
Kai was a dancer, not a skater, but some of it could be translated. She did her best.
