Laurel's cheeks flushed slightly as Emma made her point quite well. She had mostly heard of metahumans who could choose when to use their powers. She didn't envy Emma.
I'm guessing it gets quite loud sometimes, she thought with just an edge of apology to it.
As useful as such an ability could be, Laurel thought that there would be a lot of downsides to being able to overhear people's thoughts and not being able to turn that off.
"The sonic scream?" she asked. "Only since the last stop. Our abductors took me away for a bit after the resort. I don't remember the time I was gone, but I missed an entire stopover that the group made. When I got to the next place, I... got mugged and it just came out. Knocked the guy unconscious. I'm still not sure if they did anything to me or if the potential was always there."
The missing time weighed heavily on her, but she knew that if she spent too much time worrying about, she'd have a hard time moving forward. Accept the things you cannot change.
