Laurel turned to head in the direction of a cozy little deli. She frowned a little at the mention of a credit card.
"I'm not sure what they'll take here, but there's only one way to find out. So far, I've ended up in a resort that seemed like everything was prepaid for us, and on a university campus where I already had a job and a bank account. So it's not guaranteed, but I have a feeling that we don't have to worry about how to pay for things here."
She knew that was somewhat optimistic. It was possible that their abductors would send them into environments where they had to fend for themselves. But she doubted those environments would look like a Christmas card.
"Have you met many of the others?" she asked. "I'm pretty sure there are about 30 of us. I haven't met them all, but I've talked to a few."
