As the fingers of one hand closed around prescription bottle, brow furrowed at the realization that someone was seemingly coming to his defense. A woman. Her tone fiery and accent familiar. Eyes lifted, taking in the confrontation with hint of an amused smile crossing his features. Her insult to the man who'd bumped into him a moment earlier upgrading that smile to a grin. As she moved to assist him, however, gaze fell to the floor and medication quickly returned to his backpack. Taken aback and curious as to why a complete stranger would go out of her way to stand up for him like that. Her actions and subsequent kindness were truly appreciated, just completely unexpected.
Daniel remained quiet as he continued to pick up his fallen possessions, with the assistance of the striking redhead. Of course he'd noticed, even in those fleeting glances. Regardless of where he'd spent the past few months, he was still human after all. He hoped his silence didn't come across as rudeness, but felt unsure about what to say and fearful that she'd notice something was off.
Her voice broke through the awkward (on his part) silence and gaze lifted to meet hers; a smile returning to his lips. A somewhat shaky hand reached out to accept the items she'd collected, most importantly his journal. Everything else returned to backpack, while leather bound book remained clutched. "Guess he was rushing to meet his flight. Probably my fault, anyway." Shoulders were shrugged as he stood, not noticing the dust now marring the knees of his dark pants. "Thanks for taking the time to... help. Hope I didn't make you late." He'd feel horrible if she'd missed her flight over a situation unworthy of her attention.
After zipping his own backpack and slinging it over his shoulder, eye contact resumed with a cautious smile in place. The fact that she'd stuck around for introductions had been a surprise, albeit a welcome one. A polite nod when she spoke her name. "Thanks again... Charlotte." He paused for a moment, shakiness (gratefully) starting to subside. Journal shifted to opposite hand as other was extended. "I'm Daniel. Nice to uh... make your acquaintance." Words sounding awkward most likely, as was the scenario in which they were meeting.
